Golf tournament a big success - again!

The 9th annual Lukas' Fund Golf Tournament was a big success, raising $15,000 to support the infants and their families in the neonatal intensive care unit. We were joined by our partners and new board members Meaghan and Jared Boyd, who have established "Piper's Friends" in their daughter's memory. The tournament was notable for a record turnout (104 golfers) and a record number of sponsors (30). 

Upcoming events for the next year include:

• Wine Tasting and Silent Auction: Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm at the home of Madeline and Phil Van Dyck
• Lullabies for Lukas: Friday, Feb 1, 2013 at Hendershots in Athens
• 10th Annual Golf Tournament: Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the University of Georgia Golf Course

Lukas' Fund Welcomes "Piper's Friends"

Lukas' Fund is excited to announce that it has partnered with Meaghan and Jared Boyd to create "Piper's Friends."  Piper's Friends was established in honor of Meaghan and Jared's daughter, Piper, who was born on November 3, 2011 and passed away the following day after a brief stay at the Grady NICU.  Piper's Friends is a designated fund within Lukas' Fund, so all donations made in Piper's memory are tax-exempt to the extent allowed by law.  More information on Piper and the fund can be found at the Piper's Friends page. 

Lukas' Fund makes the news

We're so happy that Lukas' Fund was mentioned in both the Flagpole and the Athens Banner Herald this week. Myra Blackmon mentioned Lukas' Fund in her editorial as an example of how someone can turn pain or anger into something positive. And the Flagpole recognized the great young musicians who made our first annual "Lullaby for Lukas" so successful last week. Thanks to everyone who is getting the word out about the great work of Lukas' Fund.

What talent! "Love Notes for Lukas" at Hendershot's

What a great night for Lukas' Fund at Hendershot's. We had 6 great bands play original compositions and covers in honor of Valentine's Day and "Love Notes for Lukas". You can see some of the performances here:

 Please join me in congratulating all of our winners! We raised nearly $500 for Lukas' Fund, and even more importantly raised awareness about the needs of the infants and families in the NICU at ARMC and Grady Memorial Hospital. This is the first annual, but not the last!

Join us on April 14th, 2012 at UGA for the 9th annual golf tournament. We are expecting 120 golfers who will enjoy a course in top condition, just before it is played by the pros in the Stadion Classic at UGA Nationwide Tour event. Your entry will include range balls, golf and cart, a welcome bag with golf balls and other treats, sandwiches at the turn, your favorite beverage along the way, and a catered lunch from Trump's at the end of the round. Plus, a raffle for some great prizes! Best of all, this is a major fundraiser for Lukas' Fund, to benefit the infants and their families at the ARMC and Grady Hospital neonatal intensive care units.
