What a great night for Lukas' Fund at Hendershot's. We had 6 great bands play original compositions and covers in honor of Valentine's Day and Lukas. You can see some of the performances here:

Please join me in congratulating all of our winners! We raised nearly $500 for Lukas' Fund, and even more importantly raised awareness about the needs of the infants and families in the NICU at ARMC and Grady Memorial Hospital. This is the first annual, but not the last!

Join us on April 14th, 2012 at UGA for the 9th annual golf tournament. We are expecting 120 golfers who will enjoy a course in top condition, just before it is played by the pros in the Stadion Classic at UGA Nationwide Tour event. Your entry will include range balls, golf and cart, a welcome bag with golf balls and other treats, sandwiches at the turn, your favorite beverage along the way, and a catered lunch from Trump's at the end of the round. Plus, a raffle for some great prizes! Best of all, this is a major fundraiser for Lukas' Fund, to benefit the infants and their families at the ARMC and Grady Hospital neonatal intensive care units.

2011 Lukas' Fund Wine Tasting a Big Hit!

Lukas' Fund held its 7th annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction at the home of Drs. Sandra and Bill Sexson. The event was a big success, raising over $8000 to support the infants and their families in the neonatal intensive care unit. Dr. Sexson's bluegrass band entertained the crowd of nearly 100 who gathered to enjoy great food, wine, and bid on the silent auction. Please join us at the home of Drs. Sandra and Bill Sexson at 804 Springdale Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30306. This classic home and garden will host our 7th annual wine tasting. Bid on terrific donations like a week at a luxury home on Lake Michigan, a stay in Costa Rica, or a weekend in the Georgia mountains. There are many other terrific items to bid on, as well as a raffle for special prizes. Enjoy a selection of fine wines and great food, while supporting the infants and families in the Grady and Athens Regional neonatal intensive care units.

Your donation includes a keepsake Lukas' Fund wine glass, one-of-a-kind wine charm, sumptuous food, delectable wine, live music, and complementary raffle tickets. The wine tasting takes place from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, November 6th. Suggested donation is only $50, and you can pay at the door or register online.

In memoriam

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lukas' grandfather, Kenneth Bierema of Holland, Michigan. Ken died at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters Laura (Lukas' mother) and Diane, and son Ken. We miss him terribly but are relieved that he is at peace. Ken's obituary can be found here.

One of Ken's final wishes was that donations in his memory be made to Lukas' Fund. His last trip out of Michigan was to attend last fall's wine tasting in support of Lukas' Fund, and he has always held the charity near and dear to his heart. If you would like to make a gift in Ken's memory, please make the check out to Lukas' Fund and mail it to 150 Yonah Avenue, Athens, GA 30601.

Once again, the golf gods smiled and the weather cooperated for another great Lukas' Fund event. We hosted over 80 golfers at the University of Georgia, and the course was in spectacular condition in preparation for the recent Stadion Athens at UGA Nationwide event. 8th Annual Lukas' Fund Golf Tournament April 16th

Please join us on Saturday, April 16th, at 8:30 am at the UGA golf course for the 8th Annual Lukas' Fund Golf Tournament. This year, we offer a special bonus: sign up and pay by April 7th and receive 4 free passes to the Stadion Athens Classic at UGA Nationwide Tour event, being held May 5 -8. That’s a $100 value – just sign up by April 7th (all proceeds benefit Lukas' Fund). If you're not a golfer, please tell your friends who are! To see a printable entry form, please click here. The course will be in great shape for the upcoming Nationwide tournament, and each participant receives 18 holes of golf with cart, range balls, breakfast, lunch from Trump's, a "goody bag", snacks, your favorite beverages on the course and afterwards, and a chance to win some great prizes. Even a BMW for a hole-in-one from Athens BMW! The format is a 4 person scramble with trophies for net, gross, and flight winners, long drives, and closest to pin. This is a really fun tournament, and we hope you will join us!

Lukas’ Fund was established in 2002 in memory of Lukas Bierema Ebell, only child of Mark Ebell and Laura Bierema. The Lukas’ Fund Golf Tournament has raised over $120,000 in the past 7 years for “Lukas’ Fund”. Your donations benefit infants and their families in the neonatal intensive care unit at Athens Regional Medical Center and Grady Memorial Hospital. We just dedicated our first "Lukas' Room" at ARMC for mothers and infants making the transition to home following a stay in the NICU.

Lukas' Fund is a federally registered 501(c)3 charity and donations are deductible to the amount limited by law.
